App Creation
Bitsbox
Bitsbox is a monthly subscription program. Each month, you receive a box, which contains a workbook of coding projects, stickers, and some toys/activity. Each month, the box is themed, like "summer fun." The projects are teaching small amounts of javascript coding. Plus, the books include additional variables the student can use to personalize their game (example: a game has a bear as the main character, but students can alter the code to be a pig, horse, etc.
Student can create free accounts on the bitsbox website. Each activity in the workbook has a 4-digit code. At the site, they enter the code, then complete the activity with the directions in the workbook. The end result is an app or game that they can download to their phone (cross platform!). |
MIT's App Inventor

The simple graphical interface grants even an inexperienced novice the ability to create a basic, fully functional app within an hour or less.
